How length is counted
One unit is the length of one English word. Your manuscript's word count is multiplied by its language's conversion factor and rounded up. Chinese and Japanese are counted in characters, and Thai counts six letters as one word.
Each language has its own factor so the same content comes to about the same number of units whatever language it's written in. English is 1, Korean 1.39, Japanese 0.42 and Chinese 0.61.

For a manuscript in Korean, multiply the word count by 1.39 to get units. A 10,000-word manuscript, for example, is 13,900 units.

- Service period
- There is no time limit: the manuscript you paid for and its translation stay available in leapCAT.
- Payment method
- One-time credit card payment (KG Inicis). No subscription or automatic renewal.
- Refunds and exchanges
- Before translation starts: full refund, at any time.
- After it starts, we refund the part not yet translated. Refund = amount paid × (units not translated ÷ units paid for), rounded down to the won.
- Anything we couldn't deliver because of a problem on our side (errors, outages) is refunded in full, or translated again if you prefer.
- As a digital service there are no exchanges. If something is wrong with the translation, we redo it or refund as above.
- Withdrawal is limited for parts already delivered (Korean E-Commerce Act art. 17(2)5). The free quote lets you check length and price before paying.
- Refunds are made by cancelling the card payment within 3 business days of confirming the request.
